Design
The 2020 model year brings an evolution in design for the Ford Explorer. From looks a new approach to looks to a return to form in engineering, the new model heads in a new direction. But don't worry -- the model's classic features that make it so popular are still hanging around.
To start with, the new Explorer maintains the same general size and proportions as before. It's a three-row SUV with room for up to six or seven passengers, depending on the configuration that you choose. Ford aims to make loading in and out of the third row easier with the E-Z Second Row design, which can move the second-row seats forward with the push of a button. Up front, available Multicontour seats with Active Motion conform to your comfort needs.
On the utility end of the spectrum, the Explorer is as practical as ever. The new model offers a total of 87 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down. It makes loading up everything from outdoor gear to home improvement supplies easier than ever.
And finally, there's looks. Ford moved the needle on midsize SUV styling with the 2020 Explorer. Smoother, more athletic lines along the exterior make for a look that's simultaneously more graceful and sportier. Its thin, horizontal headlamps offer stylish daytime running lights. The Explorer ST stands out with its black trim pieces, ST badging, and black wheels.
